Startups in Brabant can now make use of the Startup Readiness Program (SRP). With this programme, The Gate continues its tried and tested FRAME-LOAD-LAUNCH incubation programme in a uniform provincial approach. Together with our partners TU/e, BOM and Braventure, we use a methodology that is intended to allow startups to grow consistently. The approach should prevent startups from getting stuck at an early stage, so that their innovations do not reach the market. The programme is unique to the Netherlands and is now being emulated nationwide.

More than two and a half years after its launch, The Gate incubation programme is still a successful programme, which is assessed very positively by the participants time and time again (with an average rating of 8.5).

Because we want to offer startups support during the entire first life phase, we have joined forces with the BOM and Braventure. This way, we offer one and the same programme for the whole of Brabant.

Goal of the programme

Many startups have difficulty demonstrating that they have a successful proposition. This is mainly due to a lack of understanding of the target market and usually not due to an ill-considered product. The SRP was developed to support startups in their entry into the market.

Research early phase

The programme is a response to the Thinking Bigger Report: How ambitious is the Dutch entrepreneur? by Techleap and the Startup Development Report 2021 by BOM, Gritd and Braventure. These studies illustrate that startups benefit from guidance in the early phase. Support in the early phase leads to startups developing faster and more successfully from idea to first customer. This also gives them a faster chance of securing an investment.

The programme provided us with knowledge and skills that we could not have learned in any other way than from an incubator. It has helped to improve our business demonstrably" - Peter Rindt – eso-x.earth

High quality guidance

The Startup Readiness Program unites the existing guidance programmes of TU/e, The Gate, Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM) and Braventure. Over the past two and a half years, more than 300 entrepreneurs have participated in these programmes. The SRP combines the knowledge acquired by the various partners into a high-quality start-up guidance programme that provides the start-up with concrete activities and goals.

Programme launch

The first editions of the programme will start in May and June of this year. The Startup Readiness Programme consists of four modules (Ready, Game, Set & Match) and guides startups through the optimal growth path for them.  The four modules of the SRP focus on the successful achievement of the milestones in stage 1 of the life cycle model. This model encourages consistent growth of startups and has a major impact on the speed and efficiency with which startups grow into mature companies.

National rollout

The approach in Brabant has been followed nationally in cooperation with Techleap.nl. Various regional development companies (ROMs) and incubators in the Netherlands offer the programmes in their own regions. The ambition is to have a national coverage within a few years. The data insights provided by the programmes will provide a national monitor of the development of start-ups and make it possible to improve the programmes in a data-driven way.
