Ageing and de-greening (fewer starters on the labour market) are increasing the tightness of the labour market in the Brainport region. Over the next ten years, the region will need 50,000 extra employees in IT and engineering alone. The demand for personnel is also growing in other sectors. To help employers, Brainport bundles Dutch- and English-language IT and tech vacancies in job portals. At a glance, these portals show what work our region has to offer.
Automation
Besides the labour shortage, there are other developments in the labour market. Within Brainport, for instance, we see that more and more technicians are attracted to occupations in non-technical sectors and that social skills are increasingly decisive. Moreover, automation and robotisation are changing the labour market. Jobs are disappearing, and new (yet unknown) jobs are being created. This requires flexibility from both employers and employees.
Attracting and retaining national talent
Attracting and retaining tech and IT talent is incredibly important for Brainport Eindhoven. That is why Brainport Development helps with various programmes, initiatives, and advice and has a large network.

Brainport Development, the Holland Expat Center South and the LivingIN-programme support SMEs in attracting and finding international talent. The support focuses on the different phases a company and international talent go through to choose each other, namely: coming to, living in and settling in.

The annual Brainport Monitor (in Dutch) examines developments in the economy, education, labour market, business, technology, and living and working environments.
- ArbeidsmarktInZicht
ArbeidsmarktInZicht (in Dutch) bundles data on the labour market, education, and the economy, among other things, and links them to Brainport.
- UWV – Current labour market figures per region
UWV provides insight into developments per labour market region. For the Brainport region, these are Helmond-De Peel en Southeast Brabant.
