Attracting and retaining international talent
International talent is indispensable for strengthening the technology sector. Moreover, these foreign professionals bring diversity to the workplace, stimulating new perspectives and innovation.
Attracting international talent based on data
Brainport Development helps employers attract, retain, and deal with international talent. But we do so accurately. Thanks to data, we increasingly know our Brainport region's identity and which skills we lack. We also know where talents with those skills can be found. Together with employers, we use this data to promote the Brainport region abroad through our brand story.
Retaining international talent
As Brainport Development, we also focus on retaining international talent, for instance, by increasing the stay rate of international students and employees. We do this by working together with educational institutions and employers to ensure a soft landing on the one hand and by improving the business climate on the other.

The scan takes 20 to 30 minutes. Already created an account or want to track your progress periodically? Log in here or create an account.
The International Talent Scan was developed by Brainport Development and Holland Expat Center South in collaboration with Fontys and eight regional tech companies. The scan is intended for companies already employing international staff and for companies considering attracting international talent. You get access to useful tools to improve your processes and increase the effectiveness of your (recruitment) activities. By completing the scan more often, you will gain insight into your progress and how your company is performing compared to similar companies in your sector (benchmark).
Specialised recruitment and selection agencies
Several secondment, recruitment and selection agencies specialise in attracting international tech and IT professionals. As an employer, you can hire or employ (temporary) staff through them.
Recruiting and advertising online
Besides using our job portals, you can also recruit and advertise online yourself. Think of English-language job websites or online advertising that allows you to reach a specific target group in a very targeted way. You can use search engine optimisation (SEO) or search engine advertising (SEA). In the region, you will find various marketing and communication agencies specialising in online advertising and labour market communication.
Participate in (inter)national career fairs
There are several (inter)national career fairs and career days at universities for tech and IT professionals. By participating in these as a company, you easily come into contact with potential (inter)national talent. An example of such a career fair is the MIT European Career Fair, taking place every February in Boston, USA.
Join a regional network of HR professionals
As an employer in Brainport, you can join a regional network of HR professionals. They gain knowledge and meet at thematic meetings, for example.
Give international students a chance
Students are your future employees. Therefore, international students must know how to get to one of the educational institutions in Brainport. As an employer, you can bind them to you by cooperating with educational institutions, for instance for internships and graduation projects.
