The strategy of Brainport Eindhoven, which focuses on maintaining and enhancing the regional ecosystem for innovation, is based on the ‘triple helix’ – the cooperation between public authorities, industry and educational and knowledge institutes.
The Brainport Foundation and the economic development corporation Brainport Development are both devoted to furthering the common interests. Which agenda serves us all? How can we ensure that one plus one equals three? How do we create new initiatives? And which challenges are so big, we rather face them together than individually?
Companies, knowledge and educational institutes and public authorities in Brainport Eindhoven are functioning in an ever-changing economic reality and social context. To be successful, the cooperation between the three partners must be based on a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities they are jointly faced with. Because we are ambitious about further developing an ecosystem that generates new collaborations, economic activities and products that contribute to a well-balanced labor market, help create solutions for social challenges and generate prosperity for everyone in the region.
That is why we are exploring the opportunities for tomorrow. Our world is changing constantly and in an ever-faster pace. What do we need in twenty, thirty years’ time? How do we make sure there is sufficient work, income, energy and food for everyone? That cities are clean and accessible and that people and regions stay healthy? Whoever is thinking about the future, is thinking about the world of today and about the world our children will be living in. It does not get more important than that.
The companies, educational and knowledge institutes and public authorities in the region, represented by the Brainport Foundation, have been defining, jointly with hundreds of regional representatives, how they want to enhance the economic position of Brainport Eindhoven the coming years. In such a manner as to benefit all residents, generate sufficient jobs and create good training opportunities for all. The outcome has been laid down in the Brainport Agenda.
Thanks to the unique cooperation between public authorities, educational and knowledge institutes and the industry, Brainport Eindhoven has become an economic main port. Where the unemployment rate is lower than average. Where jobs are created on a daily basis. And where technologies are used to create tomorrow’s society.
Our unique cooperation adds value. And contributes to healthy businesses, a well-balanced labor market, new technologies and smart solutions. Cooperation remains key to continue to be strong in the future. To be able to create more value for more people. We are ambitious about further developing an ecosystem that generates new collaborations, economic activities and products. We are using Brainport’s knowledge and organizational power to develop smart solutions.
Our main goals are clear: Enhancing the ecosystem and accelerate innovation. We do that by focusing on three areas: Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Talent, and Living and Business Climate.
In the coming years, we will further enhance the region’s solid and resilient starting position. The goals of the Brainport Agenda are focused on driving the economy, creating employment, providing solutions for social challenges and – something we learned from the corona crisis – ensuring that the Netherlands is less dependent on the import of vital products.
The Brainport Agenda contains three key elements: enhancing the innovative power of the region, ensuring the availability of sufficient highly qualified talent and improving the living and business climate in the region. Ten priorities have been defined within those three key elements.
