Have you ever wondered what your passion is in the field of work? What do you like about your work and what mainly gives you energy? These are simple questions, to which the answer is not always easy to find. It is great if you can turn your hobby into your work, but this is often not realistic.
However, it is very important that your work gives you satisfaction and energy. You normally spend a large part of your life working. So when you can't find your motives sufficiently reflected in your work, there is a big risk that you will have to give too much energy in the long run. As a result, you lose the enthusiasm and motivation for work and you may not feel good about yourself. Therefore, ask yourself the question, what are my passions and drives?
To give you a helping hand, you can read below a number of primary motives that strongly determine your job satisfaction. Try to find out which drives are best suited to your needs right now. Then ask the question whether you can sufficiently find these drives in your current job and work environment. The more of your drives you can find in your job and the organization you work for, the greater your enthusiasm and job satisfaction will be.
You work mainly for security. Financial stability is important, but you also find it important to keep agreements and a clear structure or direction in your work. You are loyal to your employer and hard work gives you satisfaction, as long as your job provides some security.
You find it very important that work and private life are in good balance. The commitment and challenges at work are important to you and you like to deliver a good result. However, your work should not be at the expense of personal interests and needs. You want to move forward, but not like a rocket. A promotion or more responsibilities at work are therefore carefully weighed up. This should not lead to too many concessions in the private sphere; after all, being successful in life is more than being successful in your work.
It is very important to you that your work provides added value. This can be done on both micro and macro level, but the most important thing is that society benefits from your work and involvement. Personal gain is less relevant, social sense is what it is all about.
Developing new products and services, that's what you want to contribute to. You would like to achieve a new result and you are willing to take risks. You start from your own strength, creativity and independence and attach less value to structure and policy. It is fine if your creativity is rewarded with a breakthrough or success only in the longer term, as long as you can determine your own course.
“We will go to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard”, said former U.S. president John F. Kennedy. If you agree with this, you go to great lengths to achieve a result, especially if it concerns a difficult situation or a complex project. You attach more value to everything or nothing than choosing a work routine.
New opportunities, progress and challenges keep you sharp and motivated!
You are good at analyzing and want to understand the context. Work must involve a technical and substantive deepening. You like it when colleagues come to you for your specialist knowledge. Within your field you want to be one of the best!
Your career is on top of everything else! You are in the process of reaching the top and want to promote yourself quickly to a management position. Not the specialism, but the degree of responsibility and giving direction you find particularly important. Privately you are willing to make concessions, you enjoy your work and even more of the career steps you want to make.
