Eye surgery robot from Preceyes
Retinal 👁 disorders are the number one cause of visual impairment and blindness in the Western world. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for every condition. Researchers are constantly working on new treatments, such as gene therapy. A precise dosage of an extremely expensive drug must be injected 💉 into the retina for one or two minutes. Even for surgeons 👨⚕️ with a particularly steady hand it's too difficult to properly administer. That's why Preceyes, a start-up created at @tueindhoven, developed a robot 🤖 with vibration filter, with which eye surgeons can inject 10 to 20 times more precisely.
