500 households are warm thanks to ‘rechargeable’ iron powder
The companies, educational and knowledge institutes and public authorities in the region, represented by the Brainport Foundation, have been defining, jointly with hundreds of regional representatives, how they want to enhance the economic position of Brainport Eindhoven the coming years. In such a manner as to benefit all residents, generate sufficient jobs and create good training opportunities for all. The outcome has been laid down in the Brainport Agenda.
The agenda was presented amidst a historic health crisis. Everyone is affected by the corona virus and it is inevitable that the Netherlands will experience a recession. Certain sectors in Brainport Eindhoven, such as the hospitality sector, have also been hard hit by the crisis. At the same time, we see that Brainport Eindhoven holds a relative stable position thanks to years of investing in collaborations between companies, public authorities and educational institutes and in innovation. Brainport Eindhoven has a global leadership position in a number of key technologies, such as micro and nano technology. A position we are now benefiting from.
Solid and resilient starting position
In the coming years, we will further enhance the region’s solid and resilient starting position. The goals of the Brainport Agenda are focused on driving the economy, creating employment, providing solutions for social challenges and – something we learned from the corona crisis – ensuring that the Netherlands is less dependent on the import of vital products.
Three key elements, ten priorities
The Brainport Agenda contains three key elements: enhancing the innovative power of the region, ensuring the availability of sufficient highly qualified talent and improving the living and business climate in the region. Ten priorities have been defined within those three key elements.
