What is Brainport Eindhoven?
In Brainport Eindhoven, we play at world-class level when it comes to top technology. Innovations, machines and products from Brainport contribute directly to major global societal challenges. Technology and society go hand in hand here, and collaboration is in our DNA. This has made Brainport a great place to live, work and play. Brainport, with over 800,000 inhabitants in 21 municipalities, is relatively small in size but huge in impact. We have grown into a region of great importance for the Netherlands, Europe, and the rest of the world. Here, over 6,000 high-tech companies and leading knowledge and educational institutions invent and manufacture complex machines, products, and innovations. These innovations and technologies contribute to solving global societal challenges, such as energy transition or improving healthcare.
Technology of the future
In Brainport, the high-tech manufacturing industry, knowledge and educational institutions, and governments work closely together to develop the technology of the future. We are the home of pioneers and an incubator of innovations. We have achieved this by investing in promising technologies for the future and by being mindful of who lives, works, and lives here.
That we are doing well does not mean we can sit back and relax. Besides global societal challenges, such as the energy transition, healthcare under pressure and climate issues, we also face problems closer to home that require our attention. Examples include the housing shortage, labour market tightness, pressure on regional infrastructure and metropolitan issues.
Collaboration
We tackle these issues together. We look to the future from a joint agenda of companies, knowledge and educational institutions and governments. This so-called triple helix collaboration is unique to Brainport Eindhoven. Together, we invest in all inhabitants. Whether it concerns public facilities, accessibility, talent development, affordable housing or equal opportunities.
Looking out for each other
Within Brainport Eindhoven, we look out for each other. Together, we ensure that everyone benefits from the region's success, regardless of their level of education or origin. This has led to the creation of Brainport for Each Other, an association of social employers with initiatives that benefit the region's residents.
Future
Brainport Eindhoven has grown into a resilient and future-proof region where people from all corners of the world enjoy living together. Moreover, Brainport's potential is enormous. If we continue as before, we will further strengthen our international competitive position, be less dependent on other continents in Europe, and secure high-quality jobs for the future.
Due to Brainport's success, we expect thousands of extra jobs in the region in the coming years. As in the past, this calls for the resilience and solution-orientation that are so characteristic of Brainport. With this mindset, we will remain the distinctive region where technology, entrepreneurship, and societal challenges come together. This is how we create prosperity and well-being for everyone.
