Brainport offers several relevant options to companies that want to collaborate with primary and secondary schools in the region. Depending on what’s most important to you, you can e.g. choose to actively participate in education by presenting the challenges your company is facing, by offering pupils a tour through your company or by participating in activities organized to involve pupils in the regional industry.

Collaboration with schools

When pupils already learn about the regional industry and the opportunities it offers at a young age, changes are they will actually look for a job in the region in the future. Educational collaborations in Brainport

Brainport schools

Some fifty primary and secondary schools in the Brainport region are actively involved as (aspirant) Brainport Schools. Those schools are jointly trying to develop education. One of their pillars is the ‘context-rich learning environment’; collaborating with the environment and the industry both during and outside school hours. Please contact one of the Brainport Schools close to you for more information and the possible options.

The Netherlands, and with that our region, has a number of STEM schools. These secondary schools (level havo-vwo) focus on Research & Design, which subject is also included in the exams. To teach the students about research and design, schools are using the real-life challenges faced by companies. Your company can also submit a question to one of these STEM schools. This way, you help educate pupils in the region about technology.

Jet-Net & TechNet

Under the Jet-Net & TechNet label, companies and schools (both primary and secondary) in the region are jointly organizing several activities to promote technology amongst younger people. For example, by means of the Career Day, company visits and the Junior Innovation Challenge. Your company can also join one of these collaborations.

A strong technological education system

The next four years (2019-2022), the government will focus on enhancing technological education. This will stimulate collaborations between intermediate preparatory vocational education, intermediate vocational education and the industry. Four consortia (collaborating intermediate preparatory vocational schools, intermediate vocational schools and the industry) have been formed within Brainport Eindhoven. Please contact Brainport Development for more information.

Regional networks

At several locations within Brainport Eindhoven, various companies have united to contribute to regional education. For example, the network of the Kempisch Ondernemers Platform (a platform for entrepreneurs located in the Kempen) is providing technology coaches to schools located in the Kempen. And the High Tech Helmond de Peel Foundation is organizing activities at companies in the region to offer children the opportunity to visit those companies.

Hybrid tech teachers

When working as a hybrid tech teacher, you are combining your job in the industry with a job as a teacher. There are various ways to work as a hybrid tech teacher. It will often take about 4 to 8 hours a week. When allowing employees in your company to work as a hybrid tech teacher, you give them the opportunity to accept a new challenge and to gain experience in the field of education. This way, your company is directly contributing to the improvement of education in the region.
