Security - Safe living environment and data security
Areas are urbanising more and more. A growing number of people in a relatively small area has consequences for the quality of the living environment. This requires smart technological solutions for issues concerning fire safety, police deployment, air quality, noise pollution and control of flows of goods and people. In addition, the use of data in business and in people's homes is growing. This also calls for smart solutions to guarantee privacy, protect data and store things safely. In Brainport, you will find countless companies, educational and knowledge institutions and security organisations that offer technologies and ICT solutions in the field of smart cities and cyber security.
The coming years
At the end of 2019, a cooperation agreement was signed between security parties such as the police, the safety region, customs and defence to develop new security solutions together with the Brainport Foundation. The security parties are the driving force and offer experimental areas for the testing of prototypes. These include innovative solutions in data application and data processing in relation to, for example, fire prevention, air quality and crowd control. There is a clear link here with AI, sensing and other digital technologies. Furthermore, there is a great need for the deployment of digital technologies in the field of robotisation and autonomous movement, such as self-driving vehicles. 2019 also saw the launch of the Brainport Cyber Resilience Centre.

The Brainport Cyber Resilience helps companies within the knowledge-intensive industry to become resilient against digital espionage and sabotage. In the coming years, in addition to large companies, we want to connect SMEs and in this way increase the resilience of regional business throughout the chain and maintain our competitive position.
