Brainport Administrative Consultations
At the end of 2021, the Rutte IV cabinet decided to further develop the main port status of the Brainport region. Since 2022, this has been done in separate and periodic consultations between the national government and the region (the Brainport Administrative Consultations) based on the Strategic Agenda Brainport. The following government representatives take part in the BO-Brainport: Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (chair), Minister for Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management and Secretary of State for Infrastructure and Water Management. Representing the regions are the chairman of the Brainport Foundation, the deputy for the Economy of the Province of North Brabant, the alderman for the Economy of the City of Eindhoven, who is also chairman of the Economy portfolio holders' consultation (PoHo) of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region (21 municipalities) and the director of the Brainport Foundation and Brainport Development.
The Brainport Eindhoven Strategic Agenda will serve as a guideline for the consultation. It contains agreements about three pillars:
- International value chains (such as innovation and trade)
- Talent (education and labour market)
- Living and accessibility (housing and infrastructure)
Progress, challenges and new measures are discussed during the Brainport Administrative Consultation. This is important for the region to continue to grow as a top technological region in the Netherlands and Europe.
