My Add On Test Day 12-02-2025

On February 12, a test for an innovative mobile ramp for manual wheelchair users took place at the Rachelsmolen campus in Eindhoven. Led by Brainport Development in collaboration with Fontys University of Applied Sciences, the test was conducted as part of the Interreg project CrossCare 2.0, which accelerates healthcare innovations through regional cooperation.

Innovation for Independent Mobility

The Belgian company My Add On develops functional aids that enhance the independence of wheelchair users. The mobile ramp combines thoughtful design with ease of use. During the test day, six end users, guided by Mens en Techniek students, evaluated the product and provided direct feedback for further improvements.

One student decided to participate in the test as a wheelchair user, offering a unique perspective on the product’s functionality: "As a user, I found it valuable to contribute to the development of a product that can improve mobility, not only from my studies but also from personal experience."

Collaboration for Faster Healthcare Innovations

Brainport Development connects companies, education, and end users to accelerate the implementation of healthcare technologies. “The strength of this collaboration lies in connecting different parties. By bringing companies like My Add On together with end users and leveraging the expertise and facilities of Fontys, we create solutions that make an impact in the healthcare sector,” said Quirine Verstappen, program manager MedTech at Brainport Development.

Fontys participates through PITCH (Platform to Innovate, Test and Connect in Health), an initiative that connects companies with future healthcare professionals. Silvia Enders, co-founder of PITCH: "This test focuses on user-friendliness. PITCH helps companies gain valuable insights while allowing students to gain practical experience with healthcare innovations."

Shaping the Future of Healthcare

Thanks to collaborations like this, innovations are better aligned with the needs of end users. Brainport Development remains committed to fostering partnerships between technology companies, education, and the healthcare sector.

The user test was conducted as part of the CrossCare 2.0 project and was made possible by Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland.
