International talent in secondary education

Internationals in de klas is a collaborative programme in which international professionals with a STEM background are guided towards a role in Dutch secondary education. Participating schools build on the strong education that already exists and offer candidates a supervised place to gain experience and develop themselves. The programme is organised regionally, with support from the education region and teacher training programmes. This creates a sustainable and careful influx that is in line with school practices.

Who is this programme intended for?

Internationals in de klas is intended for secondary schools that offer STEM subjects and are open to international professionals to supplement their teaching staff. The programme focuses on schools that want to contribute to future-oriented and internationally oriented education and that can offer candidates a supervised place to gain experience and develop themselves.

The focus is on schools within the Brabant-Oost Education Region, particularly in the Brainport region. Participation is possible in various forms and is always tailored to what suits the school and the phase of the programme.

What does participation mean for your school?

If your school participates, you can give international professionals with a STEM background a place in the school in a supervised manner. This brings additional subject-specific expertise and practical experience into the classroom and can offer pupils new perspectives.

What you need most of all is a good support structure: someone who acts as a workplace supervisor or mentor and a clear understanding of what is feasible in your school's practice. The commitment can start small and grow along with the candidate's stage of development, so that participation fits in with your planning and capacity.

How can your school participate?

As a school, there are various ways to join Internationals voor de klas. Together with the Brabant East Education Region, you can explore which role and commitment are appropriate for your school. This can vary from an exploratory meeting to offering a supervised internship or workplace.

There is no fixed entry point or obligation to participate on a structural basis. The collaboration is always tailored to what is feasible within your school's practice and to the phase of the programme.

Please contact the Brabant East Education Region for an exploratory meeting to discuss what participation could mean for your school.
