Bringing alumni with an own company or interest in entrepreneurship in contact with the startups of TU/e. That was the goal of the first edition of the TU/e StartUp Night, a co-production between the TU/e Office for Alumni Relations, The Gate and Round One Ventures, on April 12, 2022.
The role of universities has changed dramatically in recent decades. They have evolved from knowledge institutions to drivers of innovation and partners in research for businesses. Nowadays, universities are increasingly bridging the gap between fundamental research and the development of special products.
One of the core values of TU/e is collaboration. To begin with, between faculties and institutes. And thanks to initiatives such as The Gate and the great collaboration within the Brainport region, TU/e has become a breeding ground for innovations that are finding their way into practice ever more quickly.
All the more reason to connect the alumni with the future generation of entrepreneurs during the TU/e StartUp Night. An inspiring evening in which sharing knowledge, networking and supporting the new generation of entrepreneurs was central. In a packed Blue Hall, the event was opened by Robert-Jan Smits, followed by inspiring presentations from three TU/e alumni as Pieter Janssen of Prodrive Technologies, Tessie Hartjes of Lightyear and Jelle Schuitemaker of Goal 3. In addition, Jeroen van Woerden of The Gate and Bob van der Meulen of Round One Ventures also gave a short presentation.
During the networking drinks there were plenty of connections and interesting encounters. In short, the organization looks back on a very successful first TU/e StartUp Night!
