At first, the most known Dutch representation in China are the Embassy and Consulates of the Netherlands, they are the direct representative office of the Dutch government in the country. The Dutch embassy located in Beijing, and four consulates can be found in the cities of Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong & Macao. Besides the political function, the Dutch embassy in Beijing and four consulates both provide consular services for Dutch companies. Besides the embassy and consulates, there are Netherlands Business Support Offices in Chengdu, Wuhan, Jinan, Nanjing, Qingdao, and Dalian. These six NBSOs are foreign trade offices are often run by two people and are part of the Dutch economic network in China. NBSOs are dedicated to supporting Dutch companies in starting and operating their business in China from different perspectives such as find representatives, business partners, market information, and local laws and regulations related information.
The Innovation Network is an innovative development network under the RVO. It is focusing on innovative development and related trends in China. The network identifies opportunities for R&D projects in China and makes innovative matches between the Netherland and China. The network is currently focusing on the sectors of hydrogen, high-tech, smart mobility, clean-tech, aerospace technology, agro, and food industries. There are three Innovation Attachés in China, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.
NL in Business is a program of the Dutch employers’ organizations VNO-NCW and MKB Nederland. It works with the BZ, EZK, and other Dutch government organizations to provide solutions and advice for Dutch SMEs who wish to go internationally. It has selected four Chinese cities (Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing) with tempting market opportunities and good successful chances for Dutch entrepreneurs. You can directly access economic figures & facts, sectors with opportunities, relevant service providers, important events, and publications of each Chinese city from their website.
On both municipality and province level there are ‘sister’ relationships between decentralized governments in The Netherlands and China. 36 cities and 11 provinces have a partnership with a Chinese counterpart. You can find an overview of them here. Noord-Brabant specifically has a partnership with Jiangsu and have representatives' office at the NBSO in Nanjing.
