About Brainport voor Elkaar
Brainport voor Elkaar is an association of employers from the business sector, the voluntary sector, education and government. Together, they work to find solutions to social issues in the Brainport region. Their approach is based on a sense of responsibility, equality and curiosity about others – and about how we can become a more socially inclusive society. Because we can only remain economically successful if we are also socially strong.
Together we can achieve more
The Brainport region is growing rapidly. Every year, new residents, workers and students move to the region. They contribute to economic progress, but also place pressure on the social fabric. Not everyone automatically benefits from this growth. Opportunities are unevenly distributed, jobs and skills are changing faster than people can keep up, and the diversity in background, language and educational attainment calls for new ways of living and working together.
The question, therefore, is not whether we can cope with this growth, but how we can ensure that everyone can continue to participate.
An association that gets the region moving
The challenges we face are too great for isolated initiatives. They call for cooperation at a regional level. Brainport voor Elkaar is an association of employers that drives, connects and strengthens this cooperation. We bring parties together, identify areas of friction and help to set joint solutions in motion. Not by doing everything ourselves, but by harnessing the power of the network.
The power of the quadruple helix
Within Brainport voor Elkaar, four sectors work together to drive social progress: the business community, government, education and civil society organisations.
Each party brings its own perspective and strengths:
- The business community provides human resources and innovative capacity, and is closely connected to its employees.
- Local authorities bear responsibility for residents, neighbourhoods and livelihood security.
- Education develops talent and identifies wher skills are under pressure
- Civil society organisations understand the real-life context and reach people who would otherwise remain out of sight
It is precisely the combination of these perspectives that drives change.

50 years ago, Eindhovense band BOTS released the song '7 days long. The lyrics of the song are about the mentality of the people here and are part of the identity of this region. For Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Mayor of Eindhoven and chairman of the general board of Brainport voor Elkaar, the occasion to perform the famous song at the New Year reception last January.
