New MedTech & BioTech centre opens at HTCE
On 1 October 2025, a new innovation centre for MedTech and BioTech will open at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. The centre has been developed by High Tech Campus Eindhoven and the Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC), with support from Brainport Development and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM). The aim is to help innovators in medical technology and biomaterials move more quickly from research to market, with high-quality facilities and a strong partner network.
The centre is located in building HTC 11 and has shared workspaces, laboratories and GMP-certified cleanrooms for pilot production at clinical level. Combined with guidance and the network of partners, teams can develop their early research more efficiently into applicable healthcare solutions.
Smart Biomaterials Consortium (SBMC): cleanrooms and labs
SBMC manages 400 m² of cleanroom and laboratory space for the development and pilot production of biomaterial-based resorbable implants, plus technical and regulatory support for companies working towards clinical application.
MedTech and BioTech in Brainport Eindhoven
The Brainport region has a strong position in MedTech and BioTech, from precision systems to AI-driven diagnostics and smart biomaterials. With more than 350 MedTech companies, 90 per cent of Dutch MedTech patents and almost half of the national life sciences output, Brainport Eindhoven offers a powerful basis for new innovations. BioTech is becoming a cornerstone of future healthcare, with applications such as resorbable implants and advanced wound dressings.
Official opening: 1 October 2025
The official opening will take place on 1 October 2025 in building HTC 11 at High Tech Campus Eindhoven. During the event, the name of the innovation centre will be unveiled by Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, North Brabant's Deputy for Economy, Knowledge and Talent Development. The programme includes guided tours of the SBMC cleanrooms and MedTech companies in the building, as well as opportunities for interviews.
