IBIS Power has signed its first contract in Belgium for the installation of PowerNEXT on the Kleerroos residential towers in Herentals. In cooperation with housing association LeefGoed, this innovative, modular energy solution will be implemented on the roofs of the two largest towers. This is not only a first for Flanders, but also an important milestone for IBIS Power in the international roll-out of its technology.

PowerNEXT is the latest generation of IBIS Power's award-winning PowerNEST solution, in which solar panels and wind turbines are integrated into a smart and efficient system on the roof of a building. This technology provides ten times the energy yield of conventional solar panel installations, contributing to a significant reduction in energy costs and CO₂ emissions.

‘From the very first contact between IBIS Power and housing association LeefGoed regarding the renovation of the Kleerroos residential towers, they showed themselves to be a party with a very strong focus on sustainability and on saving their tenants money,’ said Dick van Driel, CEO of IBIS Power. ’Despite the complexity of the project, they never lost that focus. We are therefore pleased to announce that LeefGoed will be the first Belgian party to use our greatly improved PowerNEXT solution. LeefGoed shows the kind of determination needed to significantly accelerate the energy transition.’

The installation is part of a large-scale renovation of the three Kleerroos residential towers that will start in 2026 and focus on circular construction and innovative techniques. The installation of PowerNEXT has been made possible in part by a subsidy of half a million euros from the Flemish and European governments.

With this first Belgian installation, IBIS Power underlines its ambition to make sustainable, integrated energy solutions widely available for real estate development in the Benelux. The project in Herentals demonstrates how urban high-rise buildings can simultaneously contribute effectively to the energy transition and lower energy costs for residents.

What is PowerNEXT?

PowerNEXT is the latest generation of PowerNEST: a modular roof system designed for buildings with a greater energy demand than traditional local generation solutions can provide (see: www.ibispower.eu). It is an innovative and high-quality energy generation system that combines wind turbines and solar panels. The design makes optimal use of a physical principle to maximise power production: the Venturi effect. The installation generates large amounts of sustainable energy throughout the year, day and night.
