Innovation Broker Scheme (IMR)
Do you have a good idea or product that could be taken a step further with the help of an expert? The IMR offers financial compensation for hiring such an expert, known as an innovation broker.

In collaboration with Health~Holland, Brainport Development and the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) provide the Innovation Broker Scheme (IMR) to stimulate healthcare innovation in Brabant.
You can nominate an innovation broker yourself, or we can help you find the right person and/or organisation. This innovation broker can support you with the activities listed below for a maximum amount of €10,000 (including VAT). 50% of these costs will be reimbursed afterwards (up to a maximum of €5,000 per SME). The innovation broker can be used to help with:
- The development of a product, process or service;
- The value proposition and possible revenue models;
- Creating a business case;
- Finding financing for the development;
- Obtaining certification in the development of medical technology;
- Connections within the network.
- Linking the right (collaborative) partners (healthcare, knowledge institutions, other companies and government).
The process steps of the IMR described:
- Step 1 Registration
The reason for hiring the innovation broker(s) by an SME must be clearly formulated in advance, by means of an action plan;
It must be clear that the non-subsidised part of the costs of the innovation broker(s) will be financed from private funds (e.g. to prevent the accumulation of public funds).
There must be clarity in advance about how the results and the achievement of the objectives will be monitored and tested.
A template for the application can be downloaded here. Once completed, please email it to m.sleumer@brainportdevelopment.nl.
- Step 2 Kick-off meeting
After a positive assessment of the action plan, you will be invited to a kick-off meeting. During this meeting, we will present the conditions of the scheme and you will present your innovation and action plan. Do the project and action plan meet the conditions? If so, a cooperation agreement will be concluded. If not, we will agree on the steps to be taken and the timeframe.
- Step 3 Completion
After the service has been provided, a report will be drawn up. The report and accompanying documents will be shared with Brainport Development and the BOM. After approval, the BOM will proceed with payment.
Context of the scheme
The use of the Innovation Broker must be in line with the objectives and innovation themes (see Knowledge and Innovation Agenda 2024 2027) of Health~Holland.
