When using artificial intelligence, computers are taking decisions based on data or they are carrying out certain tasks without the intervention of or without being managed by people. The computers are self-learning devices that have the ability to implement improvements based on former experiences. This is called Machine Learning. Deep Learning is about computers learning how to recognize patterns and relations based on huge amounts of data.

 

Artificial intelligence and use of Big Data

Artificial intelligence is a technology that uses data to become smarter. It is therefore not possible to use artificial intelligence without data. The data is being saved and is growing exponentially. More and more people, companies and governmental organizations are collecting ever more data. Furthermore, devices are storing more and more information. This is called the Internet of Things. When both the amount and diversity of data is large and the speed at which data is collected is high, we use the umbrella term ‘Big Data’.  Big Data is used to collect information from sources, which actually cannot be analyzed yet. It offers interesting insights, which can be used for e.g. scientific research, marketing and maintenance. Big Data is used to assess risks, buying behavior or the performance of machines and to make predictions about supply and demand.

Data Value Center

Helping entrepreneurs get more value out of data: that is the goal of the Data Value Center Smart Industry (DVC-SI). The partners of the DVC-SI work together to help companies develop new services and revenue models using data. By bundling and making accessible knowledge, skills, partnerships and initiatives, the DVC-SI wants to contribute to an accelerated development of the data economy. FME AI platform

Trade organization FME has started the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform to bring together companies that are developing or using AI – or that are considering developing or using AI. The objective of the platform is to accelerate the wider use of AI within the tech-industry and to promote a joint message during political and social discussions regarding AI. The members of FME have drafted a roadmap to map all opportunities and threats. The roadmap contains five key objectives, which have been detailed in concrete actions lines. EAISI - Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute

EAISI is an AI-institute of the Technical University of Eindhoven that focuses on conducting cross-disciplinary research to Complex High Tech Systems, Data-driven Intelligent Systems and Human-centered Systems and Environments. The scientific objective of EAISI is to collect and analyze data to allow a system, such as a self-driving car or care robot, to take real time decisions in safety-critical situations based on the outcome.

FruitPunch AI Foundation

FruitPunch AI Foundation This foundation aims at becoming the knowledge platform for Artificial Intelligence within Brainport and Europe. The FruitPunch AI Foundation is a community that focuses on bringing starters, professionals and experts in the area of AI together. In addition, the foundation aims at further developing AI skills and applications by organizing an AI e-sports match and by promoting the integration of AI technologies in existing study programs. Each month, FruitPunch is organizing an AI Connect conference for all AI aficionados.

Jheronimus Academy of Data Science

JADS is a partnership between the Technical University of Eindhoven and Tilburg University focused on data science. If you as entrepreneur have any questions on data, you can contact their MSE Data Lab. A student will then be assigned a short-term project to answer all your questions. You can also contact JADS if you or one of your employees is looking for a training course on data.
