Programs

We are working on:

  1. Digital City
  2. Energy Transition
  3. Futureproof Building & Housing

1. Digital City program

The Digital City program provides a digital scenario planning tool for system analysis. Different approaches and solutions for complex tasks can be imitated in it. This will be applied policy-driven (for example about where required housing programs can optimally land) in Hub XL and people-driven (for example how behavior and wishes of residents about transport are translated into solutions in the neighborhood) in BSD. To this end, the added value of the tool is elaborated from the perspective of all possible stakeholders, standards for data collection and use are harmonized, and targeted applications are developed at FieldLab locations.

2. Energy Transition program

Within the Energy Transition program we are delivering a model that enables large-scale energy transition at area level (built up from building level). The model translates generation, storage and conversion options into the total energy system; the grid. With the model we provide insight into which measures are the most efficient (in energy but also financially). In addition, innovations and products are (further) developed (“engineering”) that can have a faster and better impact. We do this in existing buildings such as the Generalenbuurt and Sintenbuurt in Eindhoven and Eeuwsels and Rijpelberg Brouwhuis in Helmond, in the new Brainport Smart District district and in highly urbanized Internationale Knoop XL.

3. Futureproof Building & Housing

In Futureproof Building & Housing we are developing a structural public-private innovation program in construction that contributes to both the quantitative and qualitative construction task. Some primary issues we are committed to solving:

  • Accelerating the task by developing (temporary) housing of good quality and making procedures easier, such as in Brainport Smart District
  • Adding new quality homes in existing highly urbanized areas such as Knoop XL
  • Develop and put into practice a demand-driven building approach to put end-user wishes more central, in a way that is affordable and sustainable
