Five start-ups join NATO accelerator Brainport Eindhoven in 2025
The Defense Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlatantic (DIANA) program announced today which companies will join the 13 DIANA accelerators in various NATO countries in January 2025. Five of these international companies will join the NATO accelerator The Gate Brainport Eindhoven in January 2025. In addition, three Dutch start-ups, including one from the Brainport region will join the other international DIANA accelerator sites.
Through the accelerator network, innovative companies from the 32 NATO countries will collaborate with NATO DIANA and the accelerator to further develop their dual-use technologies. This means that these companies will not only use their innovative capabilities for the commercial market but also make them applicable and interesting for the defense market.
€100,000 and knowledge and expertise for technology development
The selected companies are developing deep technological solutions in areas such as energy, detection and surveillance, secure information exchange, health, and infrastructure and logistics. To further develop their technology, the selected companies receive an amount of €100,000. Upon successful completion of the first phase of the program, participating companies then have the chance to receive an additional €300,000. Additionally, through DIANA's network of accelerators, the companies can count on training and insights from experts in technology, commercial development, and defense.
Entrants with added value for Defense
The Gate, part of Eindhoven University of Technology, is the location from which the five selected companies for the NATO accelerator will be guided. The companies were selected by DIANA experts from over 2,600 applications. The remaining 70 companies are distributed across the 12 other accelerator sites within NATO. The following companies are coming to the Brainport region to accelerate their dual-use innovation:
- Akheros Sas (France) is a cybersecurity and behavioral intelligence startup focusing on the behavior of industrial machines in machine-to-machine communication.
- Starnav (France) is an imaging startup developing technology for navigation based on geometric data.
- SecuBlox GmbH (Germany) is a cybersecurity startup using blockchain, IoT, and AI to detect deepfake content.
- Biosistemika (Slovenia) develops laboratory software for laboratories, instrument makers, and suppliers.
- Eduworks (United States) is a data management company focusing on managing diverse data in complex organizations and environments.
The Dutch startups joining international hubs are Eindhoven-based Cubiq technologies and Rotterdam-based Spherical.
Mariëlle van Bijsterveld from the Brabant Development Agency, Monique Greve from The Gate, and Midas de Rooij from Brainport Development are involved in setting up the DIANA accelerator in Brainport: "We look forward to receiving and guiding the five startups in their dual-use development. Together with BOM, The Gate, and Brainport Development, a tailored program is provided, allowing the startups to excel during their periods in the region. By stimulating innovation, we contribute to peace and security."
