This workshop is aimed at entrepreneurial researchers who would like to make impact with the technology they are developing. The participants will gain a more in-depth understanding of various concepts of IP protection (patents, trademarks, industrial design, copyright, trade secrets, etc), as well as the routes to IP protection. We will briefly cover patentability criteria for inventions from chemistry and biomedical sciences and the types of IP that are relevant for Digital Innovations. Participants will also learn about the interplay between IP protection and Open Source and the IP-related implications of using generative AI. We will also cover some basic principles of valorization of IP and related critical tasks and tools.
