When Philips brought life to the Brainport region more than 130 years ago, it was thanks to the collaboration between the Philips family but also its employees. With people coming to work for the conglomerate from all over the Netherlands and Europe, Philips managed to produce and manufacture to an audience globally. And now, that collaboration is still present, but it has expanded with cross-functional teams spread across the world.
That is the case for the collaboration between Dr. Atul Gupta, Chief Medical Officer Diagnosis & Treatment and practicing interventional physician from the USA, and Laura Calvino, system architect at Philips Image Guided Therapy Systems, an Argentinian living in the Brainport region and working at Philips for 14 years. As an interventional radiologist, Dr. Gupta relies on Laura’s skills and knowledge in creating algorithms for the X-ray machines and vice versa, where Dr. Gupta helps Laura and her team with input to help them develop the latest innovation in image-guided therapy platforms thanks to his patients’ feedback and experience.
Thanks to this reciprocal exchange, Philips has managed to stay innovative in the healthcare field and help improve lives for over a century. When companies in Brainport Eindhoven collaborate and solve societal challenges like Philips does, the region also grows and evolves. That’s why these joint efforts are encouraged and boosted: if we all collaborate, it will be reflected not just in the workplace or the region but in the livelihoods of many.
Watch the video interview below to see how the magic happens and how collaboration has helped Philips stay a pioneer in healthcare and Brainport Eindhoven grow and become one of Europe’s most innovative regions and learn more about Philips here.
