Leonardo Ravaglia

Bologna, Italy

I am Leonardo Ravaglia and I was born in Bologna (05/12/1994).

I graduated in Bologna in Automation Engineering Bachelor Degree in Oct. 2016. During my Bachelor's, I enrolled in an exchange program with the ShangHai TongJi University, China, where I spent one full academic year.

Then I graduated back in Italy with a thesis about intelligent conveyors for a feeding (to a wrapper) machine for food packaging, with the main focus on developing Matlab/Simulink controllers to phase the products and their application to a Beckhoff PLC (Twincat3). During the master, in the same University of Bologna, I studied Automation with exams spanning on Robotics for Industrial Manipulators, System Theory/Advanced Control Theory, Mechatronics, and Computer Vision.

I graduated in July 2019 with a thesis about Autonomous Navigation of a UGV in semi-structured environments such as vineyards and orchards.
Since October 2019, I've been enrolled as a research fellow at the University of Bologna about Continual Learning on Extreme Edge devices, such as ultra-low-power microcontrollers (<1W). Making evaluations about AI algorithms and their suitability to the low power set of devices.
I am passionate about traveling and exploring the world. I also am a fan of the Netherlands, the country that has been hosting also part of my family in recent times.
I do believe and hope to grow as a professional in a dynamic context, with projects that aim at the good for society.
